Exciting news!!

Well, well, well.  I’ve had an exciting week!!

I purchased a Toshiba laptop for my cross stitching business w/some of our refund $$ and its AWESOME!!  I can take it to work and during our free time, work on designing patterns.  YEAH!!

Today, I discovered some free, yes, free, cross stitching software, KG Stitch, that does ALL the stuff the $500 software does.  Can you taste my ectasy??  LOL.  Its 10x better than my Digistitch and is easy to use.  Should make the Xmas stocking easier to get designed.

Well, I’m going to get off here and get some more work done.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

Happy V-day from Coat Closet Designs!!

Hope everyone’s day is filled with love from all you know.

Mid-Feb goings-on

I started work on the Noah’s ark design yesterday and I believe its going to be great!!

Got some elephants tentatively plotted out on the graph paper and will add some more animals soon…thinking giraffes next.  😀

I have my monthly meeting w/the SBDC tomorrow afternoon, so I have LOADS to discuss!!  Headbands, patterns and biz stuff…OH MY!!

OH, I forgot!!  Coat Closet Designs now has a page on Facebook!!  So you can become a fan, leave any comments/etc. for me and visit w/other fans.  Just search for Coat Closet Designs.

Designing update

Well, I’ve been searching the internet for inspiration.

The stitcher that has requested the stocking would like realistic animals for Noah’s Ark.  You’d think finding pictures that lend themselves to realistic, but simple, patterns would be extremely easy to find.  Its been quite the journey, but I think I’ve found what I’m looking for.

My only complaint w/this project is that I need to be able to manipulate the pictures (bigger/smaller, etc.), work on creating the cross stitches and I can’t really do that at work!!  ARRRGGGHH!!

I really “need” a laptop, so I could bring ALL my stuff w/me wherever I am.  That would be so cool.  I found one @ Best Buy that would only be $800, but we can’t really afford that right now and I think I’d feel guilty if I actually got it.  {sigh}  What am I to do??  I guess I’ll just let God work it out for me.  He’s always come through for me before and I can’t see why He wouldn’t now.  Patience.  This is one of those times I don’t want to wait.  Oh well.  😀

Getting some encouragement…

I emailed some other cross stitch designers on esty.com yesterday to get some advice on selling patterns.

I must say I received a couple of VERY nice emails back and feel more encouraged to keep designing.

I also emailed someone on my yahoo group about designing a cross stitch Noah’s Ark Christmas stocking for someone that contacted them.  Hopefully, I’ll hear back from them about it.  My last commission went very smoothly and she liked the pattern.  😀

I went ahead and pulled up a stocking template and will probably brainstorm a bit, just in case.  Wish me luck.
